San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Creating a space for the community of San Miguel to gather began with a study of the people themselves. The strangely shaped site led to a dramatic build up and reveal, inspired by the hidden courtyards of the city and fitting for the entry sequence of an outdoor theater and performance area. The after school center, cafe, and offices utilize the slope of the site to create interesting level changes and sight lines- further connecting the people to one another.
